Our Questions to Kathrin B. about Home Cinema Weeks:

Hello Kathrin, thank you for your pictures. What speakers and electronics do you have installed in your home cinema, and why did you choose this setup?

For speakers, the nuBox 683 is used in a 16 m2 space, powered by an IMG STA 1000 D with 2x500 watts through the pre-out of the Yamaha RXA 1060, as stereo music is often played. The nuBox 383 serves as the center behind a 203 cm wide acoustically transparent screen and as a surround in the rear area because it harmonizes best acoustically with the floor-standing speakers. The nuBox speakers, in general, are very efficient, delivering high levels with silky highs, clear mids, and crisp, deep-reaching lows.

Two nuBox DS 301 speakers hidden in a roughly 2x2.2 m ceiling cloud filled with 1.1 m3 of rockwool serve as Atmos speakers and are accompanied by 8 LED lamps as a light source.

In multi-channel mode for movies/Blu-rays, the two nuLine AW-1100 speakers add expression to the action, tamed by a total of 7-8 m3 of rockwool and an Antimode 8033 s2.

To prevent the bass from being overemphasized or requiring a significant level boost to feel the mid-bass between 30-60 Hz, the IBeam under the couch, powered by a Reckhorn A-409, provides that extra kick.

The image is projected by the Panasonic UB 424 through the Optoma UHD 35, which sits in a Hushbox and is cooled by two additional 120mm fans. Room ventilation is also achieved with an external Hushbox and a 120mm fan, both from BeQuiet, just like the 140mm fan on the AVR.

The side shelves, like the "HiFi Rack," are self-built. The upper two compartments serve as a Blu-ray shelf, and the 10 cm thick, 115 cm long absorbers cover them, while the bottom level acts as a tool storage for microphones, SPL meters, etc., covered by the fabric blinds of the nuBox 683.

What fascinates you about home cinema?

The fascination of home cinema is experienced every time a thunderstorm rumbles in the stomach, an earthquake induces pure fear, or an explosion hits the room with such force that it takes your breath away. Similarly, bird chirping in the background or a creaking door from the side, and everyone looks to the side, realizing there is no door.

Which film or series should not be missed?

"The Batman" or "Godzilla vs. Kong" deliver goosebumps, just like "The Equalizer 2" or, for a quieter option, "The Intouchables."

But the emotions are also undeniable with "Hans Zimmer-Live in Prague."

Thank you for the interview.
