Our Shop-Glossary
Here you will find a summary of all terms used in the shop in one place.
Bass reflex
In a speaker designed according to the bass reflex principle, the sound radiated backwards by the woofers is directed outwards through ducts or tubes to support the low-frequency reproduction. Our nuVero 140, for example, is equipped with two bass reflex tubes at the rear.
Bi-Amping
Bi-amping is the separate drive of the tweeters and woofers of a loudspeaker by two power amplifiers. The prerequisite for this is a bi-amping capable connection terminal of the loudspeaker, as is the case with many Nubert speakers. In terms of sound, bi-amping generally has no effect.
Bi-Wiring
With bi-wiring, the tweeter and woofer of a speaker are driven with two different speaker cables (which either go to the same amplifier or to two separate power amplifiers - see bi-amping). Bi-wiring generally has no effect on the sound.
Bitstream
The term bitstream is mainly used in home cinema. It refers to the (unchanged) output format of the soundtrack of a film played by a Blu-ray, DVD or other media player. The sound track is then decoded and processed by an AV receiver, for example.
Blu-ray
Also abbreviated BD for Blu-ray Disc. An optical storage medium on which, among other things, sound and video information can be stored in digital form. Quasi-successor format of the DVD.
