The NAD C 268 is a remarkably affordable stereo power amplifier whose range of functions and technologies cannot be found in other amplifiers in this class. It is not only a perfect complement to the NAD C 658 preamplifier, but can be used in numerous other configurations - for example, in combination with any stereo or A/V preamplifier, for bi-amping your speakers, or as an upgrade to the NAD C 368 integrated amplifier so that both amplifiers can be operated in bridge mode. In mono mode, the NAD C 268 achieves a continuous output of an impressive 300 watts into 8 ohms; when both channels are operated separately, it still mobilises a generous 2 x 80 watts. For the connection to the preamplifier, there are balanced XLR inputs as well as classic RCA sockets. The C 268 has a level control for the input signal to enable an optimal volume balance of all power amplifiers used in the network.

IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

KEEP THESE SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS FOR FUTURE REFERENCE. FOLLOW ALL WARNINGS AND SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS PROVIDED ON THE AUDIO DEVICE.

  1. Read Instructions - Read all safety and operating instructions before using the device.
  2. Keep Instructions - Retain the safety and operating instructions for future reference.
  3. Observe Warnings - Follow all warnings on the device and in the operating manual.
  4. Follow Instructions - Adhere to all operating and usage instructions.
  5. Cleaning – Unplug the power cord from the outlet before cleaning the device. Do not use liquid cleaning agents or aerosol cleaners; use only a damp cloth.
  6. Connections - Do not use connections that are not recommended by the manufacturer, as they may pose a hazard.
  7. Water and Moisture - Do not use this device near water, such as a bathtub, sink, laundry tub, wet basement, swimming pool, or similar areas.
  8. Accessories - Do not place this device on unstable carts, stands, tripods, brackets, or tables. If the device falls, it could cause serious injury to children or adults and could be seriously damaged. Use only carts, stands, tripods, brackets, or tables recommended by the manufacturer or sold with the device. Any installation should follow the manufacturer's instructions and should use only the mounting accessories recommended by the manufacturer.
  9. If the device is placed on a cart, move the cart carefully. Sudden stops, excessive force, and uneven surfaces may cause the cart and device to tip over.
  10. Ventilation - Slots and openings in the casing are provided for ventilation to ensure reliable operation and to prevent overheating. These openings must not be blocked or covered. The device should never be placed on a bed, sofa, rug, or similar surface. It may only be placed in a built-in installation, such as a bookcase or rack, if proper ventilation is ensured and the manufacturer’s instructions are followed.
  11. Power Supply - This device must be operated only with the type of power supply indicated on the label. If you are unsure of the power supply in your home, consult your dealer or local power company. To disconnect the amplifier from the power supply, unplug the power cord from the outlet. Ensure that the power plug is always accessible. If the device will not be used for several months, unplug the power cord from the outlet.
  12. This device is equipped with a polarized AC plug (one blade is wider than the other). The plug will fit into the power outlet only one way. This is a safety feature. If you cannot insert the plug fully into the outlet, try reversing the plug. If it still does not fit, contact an electrician to replace the outdated outlet. Do not attempt to defeat this safety feature.
  13. Power Cord Protection - Arrange power cords so that they are not stepped on or pinched by objects resting on or against them. Pay particular attention to cords near plugs, power outlets, and the point where they exit the device.
  14. Grounding the Outdoor Antenna - If an external antenna or cable system is connected to the device, ensure that the antenna or cable system is grounded to provide protection against power surges and static charges. Article 810 of the National Electrical Code, ANSI/NFPA 70, provides information on proper grounding of the antenna mast and supporting structure, grounding of the lead-in wire to an antenna discharge unit, the size of the grounding conductors, the location of the antenna discharge unit, connection to grounding electrodes, and requirements for the grounding electrode.

    NOTICE TO CABLE TV INSTALLERS

We would like to draw the attention of cable TV system installers to Section 820-40 of the NEC, which provides guidelines for proper grounding and specifically states that cable grounding should be connected to the building's grounding system as close as possible to the cable entry point.

  15. Lightning - For additional protection during thunderstorms or when the device is left unattended for an extended period, unplug the power cord from the outlet and the antenna cable from the antenna or cable socket. This will protect the device from lightning and power surge damage.
  16. High-voltage power lines - An outdoor antenna system should not be installed near high-voltage power lines or other electrical light or power circuits, or where it could fall onto such power lines. Extreme caution should be taken when installing an outdoor antenna system to avoid touching high-voltage power lines. Contact with such lines can be fatal.
  17. Overloading - Wall outlets, extension cords, or integrated multiple sockets must not be overloaded, as this poses a risk of electric shock and fire.
  18. Ingress of foreign objects and liquids - Never insert any foreign objects into the openings of the device. They may touch parts with dangerous voltages or cause a short circuit, which could result in fire or electric shock. Never spill any type of liquid on the device.

CAUTION: THE DEVICE MUST NOT BE EXPOSED TO DRIPPING OR SPLASHING LIQUIDS, AND OBJECTS FILLED WITH LIQUIDS SUCH AS VASES MUST NOT BE PLACED ON THE DEVICE. AS WITH ALL ELECTRONIC DEVICES, ENSURE THAT NO LIQUIDS ARE SPILLED ON ANY PART OF THE DEVICE. LIQUIDS CAN CAUSE MALFUNCTIONS AND/OR FIRE HAZARDS.

  19. Unplug the device's power cord from the outlet and have it repaired by qualified personnel if:
    1. The power cord or plug is damaged.
    2. Liquid has been spilled into the device or foreign objects have fallen inside.
    3. The device has been exposed to rain or water.
    4. The device does not operate normally despite following the operating instructions. Only adjust controls mentioned in the operating manual. Incorrect adjustment of other controls may cause damage and often requires extensive work by a qualified technician to restore normal operation.
    5. The device has been dropped or otherwise damaged.
    6. The device exhibits noticeable changes in performance. This is usually an indication that repair or maintenance is necessary.
  20. Spare parts - If spare parts are needed, ensure that the service technician uses original spare parts from the manufacturer or at least those with the same characteristics as the original parts. Unauthorized replacements can cause fire, electric shock, or other hazards.
  21. Safety check - After any maintenance or repairs on this device, ask the service technician to conduct a safety check to verify the device's proper operation.
  22. Wall or ceiling mounting - The device may only be mounted on a wall or ceiling according to the manufacturer's instructions.
  23. Headphones - Excessive sound pressure from earphones or headphones can cause hearing loss.
  24. Battery disposal - When disposing of used batteries, observe the legal regulations and local disposal guidelines. Batteries (standard or installed batteries) must not be exposed to excessive heat such as direct sunlight, fire, or similar.
  25. WARNING

TO REDUCE THE RISK OF FIRE OR ELECTRIC SHOCK, DO NOT EXPOSE THIS DEVICE TO RAIN OR MOISTURE.

    CAUTION

TO PREVENT ELECTRIC SHOCK, THE PLUG WITH THE WIDE PRONG MUST BE FULLY INSERTED INTO THE WIDE SLOT.

    CAUTION

If changes are made to this device that are not expressly approved by NAD Electronics, the authorization to use the device may be revoked.
