The innovative and extremely powerful NAD C 298 stereo power amplifier is not only the perfect amplifier for a combination with the NAD C 658 streaming preamplifier, but also an ideal playing partner for any other preamplifier.
The exclusive combination of NAD's own HybridDigital concept with EigenaktTM technology developed by the Danish company Purifi ensures absolutely distortion- and noise-free reproduction.
Equipped with sensitivity-adjustable RCA as well as balanced XLR inputs, the power amplifier has a continuous output power of 2 x 340 watts and a pulse power of 2 x 490 watts (each at 4 Ω).
If required, the C 298 can be operated in bridge circuit and then even mobilizes an output of 620 or 1,000 watts (continuous/pulse at 8 Ω).

  • Keep the safety instructions and operating instructions - The safety instructions and operating instructions should be kept for future reference.
  • Observe the warning notices - Always observe all warning notices on the device and in the operating manual.
  • Follow the instructions - Always follow all operating instructions and other guidance.
  • Cleaning - Disconnect the device from the AC power supply before cleaning. Do not use liquid cleaning agents or aerosol cleaners. Clean the device with a dry cloth.
  • Accessories - Only use accessories recommended by the manufacturer to avoid risks.
  • Water and humidity - Do not use this device near water (e.g., near a bathtub, washbasin, sink, in a damp basement, near a swimming pool, etc.).
  • Accessories - Do not place this device on an unstable cart, three-legged table, etc. If this device falls, injuries to persons and severe damage to the device may occur. Use the device only with a cart, three-legged table, etc., recommended by the manufacturer or sold with the device. The device may only be mounted according to the manufacturer’s instructions and using only manufacturer-approved accessories.
  • Cart - A combination of a device and cart should be moved with caution. Abrupt stopping, excessive force, and uneven surfaces may cause the combination of device and cart to tip over.
  • Ventilation - The openings in the housing are designed for ventilation, ensuring reliable operation of the device and preventing overheating. These openings must not be covered or blocked. The ventilation openings should never be covered by placing the device on a bed, sofa, carpet, or similar surface. This device should not be placed in cabinets or other enclosed spaces without ensuring sufficient ventilation or following the manufacturer's instructions.
  • Power supply - This device may only be operated with a power supply that corresponds to the specifications on the type label. The connection must be made to a grounded outlet. If you are unsure about the correct voltage and frequency, consult your dealer or your electricity provider.
  • Proper routing of the power cable - Power cables must be routed in such a way that no one can step on them or that they cannot be pinched. Ensure that power cables are not kinked at power plugs, device connectors, multiple sockets, or directly on the device.
  • Power plug - The power plug or a device disconnect switch is used for turning off the device and should be readily operable at all times.
  • Grounding an external antenna - When connecting an external antenna or a broadband cable to the device, ensure that the antenna or cable system is grounded to prevent damage caused by overvoltage and electrostatic discharge. Article 810 of the National Electrical Code, ANSI/NFPA 70, contains information on proper grounding of antenna masts and mounts, lightning protection systems for antennas, wire gauge for grounding conductors, positioning of lightning protection systems for antennas, grounding electrode connections, and requirements for grounding electrodes.
  • Lightning protection - During a thunderstorm or when the device is not used for an extended period, disconnect it from the AC power supply. Additionally, disconnect the antenna cable from the device. This will prevent damage caused by lightning strikes and power surges.
  • High-voltage power lines - Any external antenna should not be located near high-voltage power lines or other electrical lines to prevent it from falling onto these lines. When installing an external antenna, ensure that it does not touch high-voltage power lines or other electrical lines. Failure to observe this warning may result in fatal accidents.
  • Overloading - Ensure that wall outlets, extension cords, or multiple socket adapters are not overloaded, as this can cause fires or electric shocks.
  • Flame sources - No flame sources, such as burning candles, should be placed on the product.
  • Ingress of solid and liquid foreign objects - Ensure that no solid or liquid foreign objects enter the interior of the device, as this may cause short circuits, leading to fire or electric shock. Make sure that no liquids are spilled on the device.
  • Headphones - Excessive sound pressure levels from earphones and headphones can lead to hearing loss.
  • Maintenance and servicing - Disconnect the device from the AC power supply and have it serviced or repaired by trained personnel in the following cases:
    • If the power cord or plug is damaged.
    • If liquid or solid foreign objects have entered the device.
    • If the device has been exposed to rain or water.
    • If the device does not function properly when used correctly according to the operating instructions. Use only the controls specified in the operating instructions. Adjusting other controls may damage the device and require extensive repairs by a qualified technician.
    • If the device has been dropped or otherwise damaged.
    • If the device no longer functions as it previously did (this indicates that servicing is required).
  • Replacement parts - Ensure that only original replacement parts or parts with identical characteristics are used for repairs. The use of incorrect replacement parts may result in fire, electric shock, or other hazards.
  • Battery disposal - When disposing of used batteries, comply with local and national regulations on disposal.
  • Safety inspection - After maintenance or repairs, request the technician to conduct a safety inspection to ensure the device is in proper working condition.

INSTALLATION NOTES

To ensure proper ventilation, the following minimum clearance around the exterior of the device must be maintained:

  • Left and right side: 10 cm
  • Rear wall: 10 cm
  • Top: 10 cm

Do not install the device near heat sources such as radiators, heating vents, stoves, or other heat-generating appliances (including amplifiers).

Do not override the safety function of polarized or grounded plugs. A polarized plug has two prongs, one wider than the other. A grounded plug has two prongs and a third grounding prong. The wider or third prong is provided for your safety. If the supplied plug does not fit your outlet, have an electrician replace the outdated outlet.

The device should only be used in temperate climates.

CAUTION

  • Any modifications to the device not expressly approved by NAD Electronics may void its use.
  • To prevent electric shock, the plug with the wide prong must be fully inserted into the wide slot.
  • Labels and the rating plate are located on the back of the device.
  • To reduce the risk of fire or electric shock, do not expose the device to rain or moisture. The device must not be exposed to dripping or splashing liquids, and liquid-filled objects such as vases must not be placed on the device.
  • The power plug serves as the disconnecting device and should always be easily accessible during intended use. To fully disconnect the device from the power supply, the power plug should be completely removed from the socket.
  • A device with a grounded plug should only be connected to a grounded power outlet.
