Housing

We recommend using a standard glass cleaner sprayed onto a cotton cloth. This allows most fingerprints and dirt to be removed easily. Alternatively, you can use window active foam. We advise against using microfiber cloths as they may cause micro-scratches on the surface.

Membranes and Speaker Drivers

To remove dust from a speaker driver, use a lint-free cotton cloth and gently wipe the membrane with very light pressure. All Nubert speakers' tweeters are protected by a grille, which can also be wiped lightly with minimal pressure. If the dust cannot be completely removed, a makeup brush from the drugstore can be used.

Box type, sound and recommended use

As the legitimate successor to the nuBox 313, the nuBoxx B-30 perfects the successful formula "small box with big sound". A lower cut-off frequency of 51 Hertz (at -3 decibels) is record-breaking in this volume class and even surpasses (or better: undercuts) the performance of its famous predecessor by almost ten Hertz. This means that even without subwoofer support, the nuBoxx B-30 can fully reproduce even large orchestral recordings and massive electronic bass. In other words: despite its inconspicuous size, it is fully hi-fi capable and appears really "grown up".

This astonishing bass power is mainly due to the newly developed 150-millimetre bass-midrange driver and the elaborately tuned crossover, which ensure an exemplary smooth frequency response right down to the contra-Gis. With a continuous power handling of 110 watts, the nuBoxx B-30 will not lose its composure even at demanding levels. Thanks to the smooth transition to the also newly designed nuOva-B dome tweeter, the little musician also shines in the crucial "golden mean" and brings, for example, vocals to the stage in an exemplary natural and authentic way.

The nuBoxx B-30 even cuts a brilliant figure as a compact passive monitor for professionals. Above all, however, it shines in a duo as a sound transducer for sophisticated stereo systems, as a rear speaker in surround sets or, with the right receiver, as a compact TV speaker. The nuBoxx B-30 feels most at home if you give it some space, but with a little distance it can also show its skills on a shelf, for example. If you really want even more bass power, or if the listening room is particularly spacious, a subwoofer from the nuSub series can be used as a companion.

Construction principle/housing

Two-way compact loudspeaker in bass reflex design. The 16-millimetre-thick cabinet walls are made of acoustically advantageous and robust wood-fibre material (MDF). Precisely calculated internal bracing and strategically positioned damping elements not only increase the mechanical stability of the construction, but above all suppress resonances that are harmful to the sound. The housing body and the baffle are coated with a high-quality, robust decorative film in black or white. The optional, removable front cover, which is available in various colours, is covered with high-quality acoustic fabric and adheres magnetically so that the elegant appearance is not impaired by visible mounting sockets. With the supplied elastic buffers, the box finds secure footing.

Chassis

The nuBoxx B-30 is equipped with a 26 millimetre tweeter (nuOva B) and a 150 millimetre bass-midrange driver (B² technology).

All nuBoxx models rely on the same silk-fabric tweeter dome, developed on the basis of the advanced nuOva chassis of the nuLine series and christened nuOva B. A multi-layered damped rear chamber volume behind the oscillating system ensures a particularly harmonious frequency transition to the bass-midrange driver, while the carefully designed and precisely manufactured front panel with wide dispersion sound control optimises the dispersion characteristics and fine detailing of the super-high frequency range above 7 kilohertz. The new nuBoxx tweeter thus sets standards in terms of resolving power and allows the audience to enjoy maximum listening pleasure even outside the narrowly defined "sweet spot".

The 150-millimetre bass-midrange driver with polypropylene cone relies on a particularly strong and responsive magnetic drive. Its streamlined design and the generous rear ventilation of the spider avoid compression effects and cool the extra-long voice coil under high continuous load. Due to the particularly wide and flexible diaphragm clamping with low fundamental resonance, the maximum linear excursion could be significantly increased compared to previous driver models, which enables a particularly profound and level-fixed bass reproduction. Special design measures also prevent the diaphragm from "breaking up" at higher frequencies (keyword: partial vibrations), despite its robust suspension. In combination with the generously dimensioned cabinet volume, the nuBoxx B-30 thus achieves an impressive lower cut-off frequency of 51 Hertz at -3 decibels (almost 10 Hertz below the predecessor nuBox 313!). Elaborate correction elements in the magnet system and further optimisations ensure a resonance-free frequency response and minimal distortion values in the critical midrange up to the coupling to the tweeter, which favours the use of this driver in a two-way design.

Crossover

The crossover separates the signal paths, linearises the driver systems and optimises the impulse and phase. As usual with Nubert, the circuit board is of above-average complexity and equipped with long-term stable film capacitors at the sound-critical points. A reliable protection circuit cuts off the amplifier current to the chassis and crossover in the event of an impending overload and then automatically resets itself to normal operation.

Connection terminal

All nuBoxx speakers are equipped with a completely redesigned connection terminal, which is precisely recessed in the lower area of the rear panel. The bi-wiring terminal of previous nuBox generations, which is rarely used in the entry-level class, has been replaced by two high-quality angled screw terminals with precision threads, which now also offer banana plugs a secure hold and an optimum contact surface.

More info in Technology

For all technically interested music and home cinema lovers who are not put off by hard facts and metrological details, Günther Nubert's ""Technik satt"" offers plenty of technical correlations and electro-acoustic background knowledge as well as the topic of sound optimisation and insights into the development and history of Nubert loudspeakers and devices.
