3D-Sound-Upgrade
The nuLine RS-54 was developed as a special top-mounted speaker for Dolby Atmos. But that wasn't enough for us: so we also made a direct radiator out of the reflection speaker that radiates to the ceiling. With the wall mount and a switch that changes the mode, you can also use the nuLine RS-54 as a front height speaker. This makes it the ultimate addition to your home cinema, whatever the series.
Reflection loudspeaker
The nuLine RS-54 are certified by Dolby as top speakers and are therefore ideally suited as a reflection box on floorstanding speakers. By radiating from the ceiling, a 3D audio effect is created without additional ceiling speakers.
Direct emitter
The nuLine RS-54 are also excellent front/ear height speakers that can provide an impressive soundstage thanks to their angle.
At home in the home cinema
In surround, the nuLine RS-54 can be used in many places, as a classic rear speaker, as a front height or Dolby Atmos Enabled speaker, making it the ideal addition to the home cinema.
Complete in a set
The nuLine RS-54 usually completes a surround set. If you want to take a look at our home cinema editions, feel free to browse here.
Details
Low-midrange speaker
The bass-midrange driver of the nuLine RS-54 works seamlessly below the tweeter. It enables detailed voice reproduction and rich low frequencies. Thanks to longstroke technology and an optimised cabinet, the bookshelf speaker achieves a lower cut-off frequency of 94 Hz with high precision. Your advantage: Full-quality music reproduction with a small footprint.
Closed construction
The compact and enclosed design allows the speaker to be mounted directly on a wall or ceiling. The specially tuned crossover adjusts the sound accordingly. This allows you to achieve maximum homogeneity with identical speakers.
Crossover
The crossover is the control center and heart of the nuLine RS-54. Durable components ensure accurate reproduction and linear sound for decades. The switches on the back directly influence the crossover, allowing seamless switching between direct or reflection mode. In addition, the crossover features self-resetting fuses that protect the drivers from overloading
Colours
Our nuLine series relies on the high-quality lacquer finishes black and white, which are applied in several layers and sanded again and again for a perfect surface finish with a softline edge.
Design
In the nuLine series, clear shapes with delicate softline curves give the models a timeless elegance. Acoustic considerations are also at the forefront of the design process, as slightly rounded edges ensure less edge dispersion, as does the asymmetrical arrangement of the tweeters. This is matched by the elaborately calculated metal grille, which has hardly any measurable effect on the sound.
Series overview
Our nuLine series is not only Made in Germany, but also committed to honest sound: All speakers reproduce music neutrally and thus exactly as it was recorded. What's more, with 10 models in this series, we have the greatest variety for all applications, from wall or ceiling speakers, compact and floorstanding speakers to the Dolby Atmos-certified add-on speaker nuLine RS-54. All receive low-frequency support from subwoofers from the nuSub series.

Safety Instructions
- Turn off the amplifier before connecting the speaker cables.
- Ensure the speaker cables are securely connected.
- Place the speakers only in a dry location.
- Do not expose the speakers to direct sunlight.
- Overloading: The nuLine RS-54 features internal fuses to protect against amplifier overload. However, note that even a weak amplifier can endanger a speaker. At high volumes, weak amplifiers tend to distort, which places extreme stress on the tweeters. If the sound becomes distorted at a certain volume level, reduce the amplifier's volume setting.
Cold Weather and Sound
If speakers are shipped and delivered during the cold season, they must acclimate to room temperature. Low temperatures significantly affect the moving parts of a speaker box, such as the diaphragm/voice coil, surround, and spider. These components' ability to follow rapid vibrations or make large excursions is severely limited. While not dangerous, "deep-frozen" speakers will not perform at their best acoustically. Our advice: If your new speakers arrive on a cold winter day, give them a few hours to acclimate. Your Nubert speakers will reward you with the outstanding sound quality you rightly expect from us.
Connection Instructions
Ensure that your amplifier/receiver is turned off before connecting the speakers. Refer to your amplifier/receiver's user manual for specific connection instructions.
Wall Mounting
Use screws appropriate for your wall type and ensure they are securely fastened to prevent the speaker from falling. Drill horizontal holes in the wall with a spacing of 90 mm. Also, ensure there is a few millimeters of extra space above the mounting screws so the speaker can be hung and locked onto them securely.

Box type and recommended use
The nuLine RS-54 is a two-way compact loudspeaker that, thanks to its special design and tuning, is particularly recommended as an add-on speaker for a Dolby Atmos surround sound system - a so-called "Dolby Atmos Enabled Speaker". The nuLine RS-54 is placed on top of an existing floorstanding or compact speaker and radiates sound upwards at an angle, which is then reflected from the ceiling and finally reaches the audience at the listening position. This creates the three-dimensional sound impression typical of Dolby Atmos systems. Installation on shelves, wall shelves or mounts is also possible.
For operation as a Dolby Atmos Enabled Speaker, the nuLine RS-54 must be controlled by a Dolby Atmos compatible AV receiver. A separate cable connection is required for this. Attention: The nuLine RS-54 is not suitable as a ceiling speaker due to its focussed dispersion behaviour. For this purpose, we recommend instead the nuLine WS-14 or the nuVero 50, which are supplied with a special wall and ceiling bracket.
In addition to operation as a top-mounted speaker, the nuLine RS-54 can also be used secondarily as a compact speaker in a stereo or surround sound set. Due to its special design, it is particularly suitable for wall mounting, but can also be used freestanding. In this application environment, we recommend a subwoofer such as the nuSub XW-900 to support the nuLine RS-54 due to its limited low frequency reproduction.
Construction principle and housing
Closed two-way compact loudspeaker that can be operated either horizontally (reflexive) or vertically (direct). Thanks to its closed design and special tuning, the nuLine RS-54 can also be used hanging directly on the wall. The very elaborately crafted cabinet is made of 19 mm thick multi-layer lacquered MDF material and is manufactured by an experienced sound furniture specialist in Germany.
Tweeter
Unlike other speakers in the nuLine series, the nuLine RS-54 does not use our special "nuOva" tweeter, but a specially selected silk dome model. This is particularly well suited for use in a ceiling projection box due to its strong sound bundling reinforced by the special surround. The high power handling of the 30-millimetre voice coil is another decisive advantage of this tweeter chassis used for the first time by Nubert.
Woofer
The nuLine RS-54 has a 15-centimetre high-performance woofer which, thanks to its generous rear ventilation and resilient polypropylene cone, enables astonishingly powerful bass reproduction with impressive level reserves despite the compact design of the speaker. This bass-midrange driver has already proven itself in other Nubert speakers.
Crossover
The crossover of the nuLine RS-54 consists of 21 high-quality components, including long-term stable film capacitors. Perfectly matched filter edges ensure precise separation of the drivers. Furthermore, this sophisticated filter network has additional circuits for impulse optimisation, frequency and phase compensation as well as two operating modes for use as a direct or reflexive radiator. A protection circuit watches over the safety of the two drivers and the crossover. It cuts the amplifier current in case of imminent thermal overload and then automatically resets itself to normal operation.
Switching options
A switch between the connection terminals allows adjustment of the radiation pattern for horizontal operation (reflexive) or vertical or suspended operation (direct).
Connection terminal
When the nuLine RS-54 is set up vertically, the connection panel is located on the underside of the speaker; when it is suspended, it is on top, and when it is positioned horizontally, it is on the rear. The extremely solid, gold-plated screw terminals of the terminal are also suitable for cables with a large cross-section. The terminal also has the switch described above for selecting the operating mode.
