More power
The nuPower A is a Class AB power amplifier and our masterpiece in amplifier construction. Its massive appearance is not just for show, but part of the elaborate passive cooling concept. This allows the waste heat of up to two times 1150 watts to be tamed. With top technical values for signal-to-noise ratio and distortion values, we guarantee you good sound from soft tones to maximum level.
Details
Mono mode
The nuPower can not only be operated as a stereo power amplifier for two speakers, but also offers a switch on the back that turns it into an amplifier in mono mode with a fabulous 2200 watts peak power. This guarantees sufficient dynamic reserve for any application. In addition, you can switch between Cinch and XLR input and raise the damping factor by 6 dB for even more level.
Sets
The best match for the nuPower A is our nuControl 2 sound manager, which is an equal player not only visually but also in terms of noise behaviour. In addition, you will of course find the matching playback devices among our speakers that can handle so much power. For inspiration, we recommend our set offers for the nuPower A.
Class A amplifier
The nuPower A relies on a Class A amplifier coupled to the B-type for an energy-efficient solution, with minimal distortion and high signal-to-noise ratio. Thus, the completely analogue power amplifier set standards not only visually, but also technically. Its advantage: more dynamics with the same size.
Powerful power supply unit
The power supply of the nuPower A has to withstand high loads in order to provide up to 2300 watts for the power amplifiers. For this purpose, components from the automotive industry are used so that the corresponding currents can be fused and passed on. Your advantage: maximum reliability for a long-lasting product.
Full power
The nuPower A has a range of circuitry, for the best possible performance. Soft ramping is used to slowly draw the current after switching on, so that the fuse of your house installation does not drop. To prevent ground hum, there is the ground lift switch on the bottom. Your advantage: clever solutions that make everyday use less problematic.
Cutting belt transformer
The nuPower A does not rely on conventional toroidal transformers, as these build up a magnetic field in all directions. The advantage of the ribbon transformers is that almost no field is built up at the top. This is where the power supply of the nuPower A is located, so it can work without affecting the signal. Your advantage: less distortion and clearer sound.
Colours and design
Our nuPower A takes its cue from classic hi-fi forms and updates them. The large silver aluminum rotary knob stands out strikingly against the black housing and facilitates operation. Combined with the nuControl 2 preamplifier, the result is a harmonious combination that also convinced the design editors of Reddot and iF.

Der High-End Schreck
Die nuPower A treibt meine nuVero 170 an.

Feedback nuPower A, nuControl 2, nuVero 140

Device type and recommendations for use
As a stereo power amplifier, the Nubert nuPower A combines enormous power with audiophile sensitivity. It is the ideal complement to a playback chain consisting of a source player, preamplifier and loudspeakers. The balanced construction throughout, the selected components and the careful signal routing enable a particularly high sound purity.
With a continuous output power of 2x 540 watts (4 ohms) and a generously sized power supply that provides up to 2,300 watts, the nuPower A drives even power-hungry speakers and fully exploits the acoustic potential of a high-end system. To maximize output power, the nuPower A can be operated in mono mode. In this application, two nuPower A are combined to power a pair of speakers. Up to 1,150 watts (4 ohms) are then available per channel. Despite this concentrated power, no increased distortion values occur even at full modulation. The signal-to-noise ratio of 117 dBA and the total harmonic distortion (THD) of only 0.002 % meet the highest demands for sound purity and are, in our opinion, unique in this price range.
We especially recommend the nuPower A in combination with our preamplifier nuControl as well as with the loudspeakers of our top series nuVero. However, thanks to its versatile connection options (including a pair of XLR inputs and high-quality fine-thread terminals) and its flexible design, it also works harmoniously with other preamplifiers and speaker models. In doing so, the nuPower A drives up to two pairs of speakers, alternately or simultaneously. The enormous load stability makes it irrelevant whether the speakers are 2-ohm, 4-ohm or 8-ohm.
Connections
The nuPower A features a pair of XLR inputs (balanced) and a pair of RCA inputs (unbalanced), allowing it to be easily integrated into a stereo system. At the speaker terminal with four pairs of fine-thread screw terminals, you can choose to drive one or two pairs of speakers in stereo mode or one speaker in mono mode. A trigger input in mini-XLR format is also available (cable included). A complete list of the connections can be found under "Technical Data".
Housing and design
Appropriate for a high-end product is also the design and finish of the nuPower A - executed in a shapely housing of partly brushed, partly blasted aluminum, which is coated in high-quality matte black. With a width of 43 centimeters, it fits perfectly into standard AV shelves. Visually, nuPower A and our nuControl preamplifier form a perfect ensemble.
Controls
The nuPower A has only two front panel controls: a speaker selector switch (operating modes: a, b, a + b) and a standby button located below it. The volume is controlled via the preamp. Switching between mono and stereo mode is done via a toggle switch on the back. A 28-page manual explains all options and offers typical application examples.
