Truly a masterpiece
The nuVero 170 is a statement. It starts with the look of the 170 cm sound column, which doesn't even try to hide behind a grille, and ends with the sound, which sets standards. The consistent use of 4-way in combination with a triple D'Appolito system provide "more" of everything: more details, more stage width, more resolution, more bass (23 Hz) and more sound fascination.
More stereo
The nuVero 170 is the uncompromising solution for the best possible stereo sound from Nubert. The dream of true-to-the-original sound has never been so tangible as with our exceptional loudspeaker. If there is enough space, the nuVero 170 is the solution for your home.
More Surround
In combination with the nuVero 70, which is very similar in design to the nuVero 170, our flagship shows that a consistent focus on linear and homogeneous sound for surround systems redefines high-end home cinema.
More depth
If you want a bit more bass, a 2.1 system with at least one model from our nuSub-Series is a good idea. This extends the low bass of the nuVero 170 and can also be adjusted separately to suit your own taste.
Details
Tweeter
With the nuVero 170 the tweeter is coupled to the midrange at 2000 Hz. The tweeter of the nuVero series is designed for the widest possible dispersion. In combination with the optimised front plate, the dispersion is even wider. Your advantage: Larger sweet spot and wider stage coverage for a more authentic sound experience.
Midrange speaker
The midrange driver of the nuVero series is based on BMR (Balanced Mode Radiator) technology, which allows less intermodulation and a wider dispersion. In the nuVero 170, it operates in the range of 450 and 2000 Hz. Your advantage: More details in speech and instruments with a higher dynamic range at the same time.
Low-midrange speaker
The Low-midrange speaker is the unique selling point of the nuVero 170 and makes it a fully-fledged four-way speaker. The driver is used in the range between 450 and 160 Hz. This allows for a further significant improvement in precision and detail in the lower mids and the fundamental range. Your advantage: Each driver can play to its strengths, for serene reproduction with more dynamics.
Woofer
The woofer of the nuVero 170 works seamlessly below the mid-bass driver. It enables precise and voluminous low-frequency reproduction. Thanks to the ultra-longstroke technology in combination with a bass reflex port, the compact speaker achieves a lower cut-off frequency of 23 Hz. Your advantage: Unrivalled low-frequency sound for the available enclosure volume.
Colours
Our nuVero series is a real eye-catcher. The cabinet is coated with Nextel® in black or white. This lacquer has a matt and velvety surface that can set accents both visually and haptically. The front is lacquered metallic in the colours ruby red, diamond black and crystal white.
Design
In the nuVero series, the appearance follows the optimal sound reproduction. The curved and wider baffle compared to the cabinet width ensures reduced edge dispersion and a wider dispersion pattern. At the same time, the elegant curves make for a more living-room-friendly design, so the grille has the same radius as the baffle.
Series overview
Our nuVero series is the culmination of over 45 years of speaker development. The models are genuine Made in Germany products that take honest sound to the extreme. The series comprises 7 models, ranging from dipole to wall-mounted and floorstanding speakers. The subwoofers of the nuSub series provide even more bass.

Safety Instructions
- Turn off the amplifier before connecting the speaker cables.
- Place the speaker only in a dry location.
- Do not expose the speakers to direct sunlight.
- Overload: The nuVero 170 is equipped with internal fuses to protect against amplifier-induced overload. However, even a weak amplifier can damage the speaker. At high volume levels, weak amplifiers tend to distort, putting extreme stress on the tweeters. If the sound becomes distorted, reduce the amplifier's volume immediately.
- Tipping Hazard: The nuVero 170 should never be set up without the supplied traverse feet! Due to its tall design, there is a risk of the speaker tipping over sideways without the proper support.
- Warning: The nuVero 170 can produce maximum sound levels that, when listened to for prolonged periods, may cause permanent hearing damage. Volume settings are at the user's own risk. Nubert accepts no liability for hearing damage resulting from improper use.
Cold Weather and Sound
If speakers are delivered during cold weather, they must acclimate to the room's temperature. Low temperatures significantly affect the movable parts of a speaker, such as the diaphragm/voice coil, surround, and spider. These components' ability to handle rapid vibrations or large movements is reduced. While this is not harmful, "frozen" speakers cannot perform at their best.
Tip: If your speakers arrive on a cold winter day, let them acclimate for a few hours before use. Your Nubert speakers will deliver the outstanding sound quality you expect once they are at room temperature.
Setting Up the Speaker
Detailed instructions for unpacking and setting up the nuVero 170 can be found in the accompanying DIN-A3 instruction sheet.
Due to the heavy weight of the nuVero 170, always handle it with two people! After unpacking the speaker and attaching the traverse feet, remember to protect your flooring by placing cardboard or similar material under the edges of the base feet before setting it upright.
- Take one of the corner protectors from the packaging.
- Slide it under the lying speaker so the traverse foot rests against the corner protector.
- Carefully tilt the speaker over the corner protector until it stands securely. Then gently remove the cardboard strips.
Connection Instructions
Ensure that your amplifier/receiver is turned off before connecting the speakers. Refer to the user manual of your amplifier/receiver for detailed instructions on how to connect the speakers properly.
Care and Cleaning Tips
Caution!
Improper handling of the speaker can cause damage.
- Turn off your amplifier before cleaning the speaker and disconnect the speaker cables if necessary.
- Ensure all connections are correct, no short circuits are present, and the speaker is completely dry before powering on.
- Never use harsh cleaning agents or solvents like gasoline, alcohol, or similar substances.
Cabinet
For nuVero cabinets with Nextel® design lacquer surfaces, we recommend using standard glass cleaner sprayed onto a cotton cloth to remove fingerprints and dirt effectively. Alternatively, window cleaning foam can be used. Avoid microfiber cloths as they may cause small scratches on the surface.
Membranes and Speaker Chassis
Use a lint-free cotton cloth to gently remove dust from a speaker diaphragm. All Nubert tweeters are protected by grilles, allowing them to be wiped lightly. For stubborn dust, a makeup brush from a drugstore may be used.
Stands and Traverses
For cleaning stainless steel surfaces, plant gloss spray has proven to be an excellent choice. Rub or polish it in with a cotton cloth.

nuvero Standboxen
Bin ja so gesehen schon knapp 15 Jahre Nubert Kunde.

Box type and recommendations for use
With the nuVero 170, we present the top model of this award-winning series and the best direct radiator in our entire range. While Günther Nubert had perfected the three-way principle for the first nuVero generation, the nuVero 170 is the first four-way speaker from our house. The reproduction spectrum is divided into four sections: Bass, Treble and a lower and an upper midrange branch. This has several advantages: Firstly, it allows each driver to work in its optimal range, which avoids partial vibrations that damage the sound. Secondly, it minimises bundling effects. The sound spreads evenly in the room, which results in an audible "airiness" of the reproduction, which is also maintained well outside the "sweet spot" for the listener. The symmetrical driver arrangement also reduces the excitation of room modes and thus the risk of noise interference such as booming. As a pleasant side effect, the acoustic centre of the nuVero 170 can be easily localised, allowing precise location of phantom sound sources. To put it more simply: Nubert's flagship delights with its particularly spatial stereo stage and its precise, three-dimensional sound imaging. The enormous effort put into the development, construction and use of materials of the nuVero 170 is reflected in a uniquely honest and neutral sound reproduction - and thus a "lightness" and "effortlessness" of playback that has probably never been achieved before. If you can enjoy music with the nuVero 170, new "listening horizons" will indeed open up.
The speakers of the nuVero series are developed in Schwäbisch Gmünd and manufactured according to our specifications at a traditional specialist company for sound furniture construction in Germany.
Please note that a "delivery time of one to three days" mentioned above only applies to availability. The special delivery service requires a time window of up to ten days. More on this below under "Important delivery notes".
Tweeter
Designed from the ground up, the silk fabric dome extends the speaker's phenomenal resolving power even further, achieving unprecedented transparency and audibility in the upper frequency range. The 26-millimetre tweeter is arranged asymmetrically, so there are dedicated boxes for right and left.
Mid-range tweeter
For the upper midrange, the nuVero 170 relies on two compact midrange drivers with an effective diaphragm diameter of only 52 millimetres, which are characterised by excellent omnidirectional sound dispersion. The flat diaphragm chassis is supported by a torsion-resistant die-cast aluminium basket with generous ventilation openings. Thanks to the powerful neodymium drive and the resilient voice coil, impressive levels can be achieved despite the small size.
Low-midrange speaker
The lower mids are handled by two 150-millimetre drivers in glass-fibre sandwich construction, which, thanks to their powerful magnet system, can deflect particularly precisely and powerfully. The two midrange drivers have a die-cast aluminium basket and a generously ventilated voice coil that eliminates flow noise. They have already proven themselves as woofers in the nuVero 110 and nuVero 70.
Woofer
In the low frequency range, the nuVero 170 achieves new record values: 23 Hertz at -3 decibels is a value that even many subwoofers are envious of. Our engineers were able to achieve this impressive result by using three ultra-long-throw woofers in 220-millimetre format that were specially developed for the nuVero 170 and which, thanks to their double centring surrounds, are extremely clean and controlled even at the highest excursions. Their strengths include a high-performance magnet system, a die-cast aluminium basket and a generously ventilated voice coil that eliminates flow noise.
Crossover
The crossover network optimally controls the drivers used. The filter network relies on high-quality components, including film capacitors with tight tolerances and long-term stability. A sophisticated protection circuit cuts the amplifier current to the chassis and crossover in the event of an impending overload and then automatically resets itself to normal operation.
Sound options
This loudspeaker is equipped with sound selector switches that allow the dispersion behaviour to be adjusted to the environment or personal listening taste with a simple flick of the wrist. The high-frequency range can be tuned to "neutral", "brilliant" or "soft" if desired. With another selector switch, the intensity of the mids can be lowered slightly, resulting in an audibly "warmer" sound image.
Connection terminal
The extremely solid, gold-plated screw terminals of the bi-wiring terminal are also suitable for cables with a very large cross-section. The terminal screws also allow optional speaker cable connection with banana plugs or nuCable Exclusiv. Bi-wiring terminals allow the tweeter and low/midrange to be connected separately to the amplifier. A measure that can prevent sound loss with long cable lengths.
The bass range can be controlled via a suitable preamplifier such as the Nubert nuControl with a separate power amplifier and actively filtered (partial active mode), which enhances the low frequency performance.
Housing and design
The cabinet of the nuVero 170 is made of acoustically advantageous fibreboard (MDF) and has been elaborately braced and damped to avoid disturbing resonances. The elegantly curved sound sail on the front not only enriches the appearance, but at the same time minimises sound-damaging edge dispersion in the mid and high frequencies. A front grille - as standard on the other models - is not available on the nuVero 170 for technical and visual reasons.
More info in Technology
For all technically interested music and home cinema lovers who are not put off by hard facts and metrological details, Günther Nubert's "Technik satt" offers plenty of technical correlations and electro-acoustic background knowledge as well as the topic of sound optimisation and insights into the development and history of Nubert loudspeakers and devices.
