The Planar 6 builds on the great success of the RP8 and RP10 turntables. It is the first Rega turntable that could be constructed with an ultra-light Tan-Cast 8 polyurethane foam base (developed for the aerospace industry). This material is sandwiched between two layers of HPL (high pressure laminate). HPL is exceptionally thin, but extremely rigid. The Planar 6 has a new 24 V motor that is matched to the NEO power supply, which is also new. The NEO PSU uses the RP10 DSP (Digital Signal Processing Generator), which is built on a highly stable crystal. The DSP generator also produces a near perfect sinusoidal waveform.

Rega NEO PSU power supply
The Neo PSU is a sophisticated power supply for turntables with precisely adjustable speed, refined anti-vibration device and convenient electronic speed switching. It is thus a welcome addition to all Rega models with which it can be used, these are P3-24 / RP3 / Planar 3 2016 / RP6 / P5 / P7 / RP40 special edition / RP8 and any older model equipped with our 24 volt motor conversion kit. The Neo uses a crystal stabilized digital signal processor like the one used in the RP10. This DSP generates a sine wave from the clock signal at the exact frequency needed with the 24V drive to maintain precise plate speed. An anti-vibration circuit, fine speed adjustment and electronic speed switching are among its main features.
