JENO Engine (Jitter Elimination and Noise Shaping Optimization)
The SU-GX70 uses Technics' fully digital, proprietary amplifier technology. This transmission system processes signals entirely in digital form across all stages – from input to the output stages. Compared to analog amplification systems, this approach is less susceptible to signal degradation due to noise, ensuring higher precision in signal transmission. This accurate signal processing benefits not only digital, high-resolution input signals but also analog music sources with their subtle nuances.
Ideal Impulse Response with LAPC
A speaker's impedance changes with frequency. However, a power amplifier must drive the speakers regardless of their specific characteristics. In conventional digital amplifiers, speakers are driven via a low-pass filter in the output stage, making them more affected by the impedance characteristics of the connected speakers. While amplitude characteristics in conventional amplifiers can be improved through negative feedback, phase characteristics cannot. Therefore, we developed an adaptive algorithm to optimize speaker impedance. This algorithm corrects the speaker's impulse response using digital signal processing by measuring the amplitude-phase characteristics of the amplifier with connected speakers. This new method smooths the frequency response characteristics of both amplitude and phase, something not possible with conventional amplifiers. The resulting time-correct amplifier signal delivers a soundstage with precise spatial accuracy.
Dual Power Supply
The power supply is an extremely critical component in audio devices. Especially in amplifiers, where both small signal groups and power stages that deliver large currents are involved, special attention must be given to the power supply. To eliminate any disruptive effects on the amplifier section, the SU-GX70 features a dedicated power supply for the power amplifier circuit, which is isolated from all other circuits.
Top Audio Performance Through Our Extensive Video Expertise
For the SU-GX70 to receive audio signals via HDMI ARC (Audio Return Channel), it must first output video signals, as per specifications. However, the output of these signals can generate unwanted noise. To address this, the SU-GX70 outputs video signals at a lower rate, and the digital values for the color components of each pixel are set to zero. This allows for a minimal data exchange between the HDMI transmitter and receiver components, reducing unwanted noise from the video signal. This also minimizes any negative impact on sound quality. Additionally, by transmitting the signal from the TV to the JENO Engine through the shortest possible signal path, harmful jitter influences are avoided. This mechanism is unique and showcases our expertise at Panasonic/Technics as an HDMI licensee.
Pure Amplification Mode
In Pure Amplification Mode, disconnecting the power supply from the network and HDMI circuits eliminates any noise from these components or the antenna. This benefits music playback, especially for analog signals or those via SPDIF.
Analog Inputs with Discrete Amplifier Circuits
The discrete amplifier circuits in the SU-GX70 were adapted from the SU-R1000 and modified, using the same symmetrical layout. Additionally, comparable high-quality audio components, such as low-noise FETs, thin-film resistors, film capacitors, and electrolytic capacitors, were also adopted from the SU-R1000. This gave the SU-GX70 fine-tuned performance down to the smallest detail.
