Review NuBox A125

First of all, I'm really excited!

I heard the A125 for the first time at NuDays 2019. I was totally surprised at how awesome these little things sound. I immediately thought to myself: I need these! I just didn't know what for! Now they've moved into the weekend plot as a second system!

About the workmanship: I think they are solid, they are in no way inferior to the passive Nubox. I think the magnetic front grilles are great.
Installation is super easy. Plug in the power cable, ?pair? via Bluetooth and off you go. The connection is very stable and has never had any dropouts!
The small colored LED on the master box shows which source has been selected, which also dims down again after the source has been selected. The only drawback is that you have to remember that blue stands for Bluetooth, green for RCA, purple for coax, etc.
However, you should always bear the price in mind, which is why a solution without a display doesn't bother me, to be honest.

The most important thing: the sound! What can I say? Damn it, where does the powerful and full sound come from? Rich bass, clear highs, a wonderful stage. The sound detaches itself perfectly from the speaker. The voice is nicely centered between the speakers, even when you're quite close! What's great is that you can already hear a lot of bass with quiet music and the sound is by no means flat, but it's amazing how level-resistant these small drivers are compared to their size! That's much more than room volume! It's really decent and above all distortion-free! Only with music with a lot of low bass do the little ones reach their limits at full power.
The biggest negative point with the sound: at almost maximum level you can hear noise from the bass reflex tube. But only if you are close and really turn up the volume.
I would therefore not recommend the speakers for Nubert fans who listen at high levels.

The area of application? PC speakers, small second system, hobby room, TV speakers, whatever. I find them very universal and currently have them on my NL284. Even with a listening distance of 3m, they're still a lot of fun. The fact that they are marketed as PC speakers or desk speakers almost doesn't do them justice.
However, they are also perfect for the desk, as they have the wide mode and make the stage much wider when you are close to them. I also don't find the effect as dominant as with the NuConnect Amp X. The effect is sometimes very strong there. I like the balance of the A125 better.
Overall, I find the sound rather warm, not at all sharp or trebly.

In the end, for me it's an absolute price-performance hammer. That's a lot of sound, power and sensitivity for a very fair price.
I'm extremely happy and somehow I'm having extra fun listening to the little ones because I'm always amazed that the music comes out of these little speakers. It really fascinates me. Friends who have heard these speakers and don't know anything about hi-fi were absolutely flabbergasted that such small speakers can make such a big sound.

One thing is clear, the surprise effect is always on your side with the A125!

The only thing I would still like to see is a button on the speaker that allows you to switch it on and off and change the source without a remote control. Even on the back, if you like.

I bought the AW 443 subwoofer on November 4, 2015. Two reasons were the good reviews in the press and also because I like to buy from German manufacturers. I have been buying different devices from many manufacturers for 40 years and have always found them to be durable. Now I realize that my subwoofer can no longer be switched on since January 2020 (power supply unit?). For me, a long service life is also a sign of quality. Unfortunately, you can't say that about the subwoofer. When I asked for a repair, I was quoted a price of 190 euros plus return shipping.

I am very sad that my subwoofer no longer works. But I won't be able to afford the repair plus return shipping.

Answer from the Nubert-Team

Dear Mr. Siegert,

Thank you for your feedback! We are sorry that there appears to be a technical problem with your subwoofer. In order to determine the cause and possibly rectify it, we will need to have the device examined by our qualified technicians. Please understand that we will have to charge you for this diagnosis and, if necessary, for the repair. The all-inclusive price covers all costs incurred for the work, including the complete replacement of individual components if necessary. And, of course, the transportation there and back. There must have been a misunderstanding here! Rest assured that we set the price as low as possible. We earn nothing from these repairs. Nubert is one of the few remaining manufacturers who still offer such repairs. Should you still decide to accept the service, we will be happy to help you!

Addendum to the A-125: There is one fly in the ointment! Presumably because the packaging is so ingenious, the Nubi probably couldn't find a place in the box! Too bad that the first one still has to stand alone.

Hello Mr. Japichino, since the manufacturer of the Nubi figure had to file for bankruptcy and was sold, our stocks are slowly running out and unfortunately we cannot supply the figure everywhere. We are currently discussing the future of our mascot.

Every now and then I browse through the FAZ on the Internet. About 3 weeks ago I read a report about the A-125. The conclusion from the tester was positive, and I'm extremely happy with my NuLine-334, so I ordered the A-125 for the gym. I watch series on the cross trainer, but the sound has always been the weakest link.
The A-125s arrived within a few days, perfectly packaged. THAT is the kind of service you want. Thanks to the Nubert logistics team! The A-125s are slightly larger than standard PC speakers, but they also look more upmarket. I quickly plugged them in, started the DVD player and the first sound was a real joy. 😬
No comparison with most toy speakers that are sold for PCs. The small A-125s deliver the sound from the DVD clearly, with all the highs and lows, just as it should be. The simple remote control gives you a clear overview of everything. And the LED, which shimmers teasingly through the front grille, shows which input is currently active, and if you change the volume, it acknowledges the change with a flashing light.
CONCLUSION: At last, speakers for PCs (or similar) that look good and, the beauty of it all, also sound incredibly good. How the specialists at Nubert have managed this is a mystery to me. But it doesn't matter to me. The result is simply superb. A clear recommendation to buy!

The AS-450 is brutal and loving at the same time, it always depends on the movie or music. 😈
My tip: Put on some music with a lot of depth, set the bass to +8 and the volume to 60% and let it run. Then go to different rooms in the ..... rented apartments......haha you think there's an earthquake and you're at the epicenter. Very cool to torment the neighbors. 😱

The new soundbar is great! You keep your promises. I've had your speakers for a long time, but now the TV sounds great too. Many thanks to Schwabaländle from your fan and exiled Swabian Hartmut Rieker.

Due to the coronavirus, I've been listening to more music again in the last few weeks. I have a high-end chain in the living room for around 10,000 euros (no Nubert) and a home theater with NuBox components (AW 991, 2xnB 383 and four times NB 313) in the basement.

What strikes me is that the difference between the NuBoxes and the high-end system is not overly pronounced. Even though I only use the 383 plus sub, they somehow don't play in completely different leagues.

If I compare the high-end speakers with the Nu speakers without having the possibility of a direct comparison, then I evaluate the sound according to impulse fidelity, width and depth graduation, timbre and the credibility of the reproduction. I didn't notice any differences at all in terms of impulse fidelity. If anything, they were better with the Nuberts. In the area of the stage (localization of the instruments on the stage) I would see small advantages with the high-end chain. However, this may also be due to the fact that the amplifier slightly reduces the high frequency range. In terms of timbre, I hardly notice any differences in the bass. I like the mids better with Nubert, the highs with the high-end chain. And I also notice little difference in the overall credibility.

That came as a bit of a surprise to me. I thought there would be clear differences between a Nubert sub-sat system and a high-end system. Especially because the NuBoxes are now also Nubert's entry-level class. I haven't found any significant differences and I don't tend to simply imagine something to justify the purchase of overpriced high-end components. After all, the high-end components look better - if nothing else.

So a big recommendation for Nubert from me. Keep up the good work.

As a long-time and very satisfied user of a nuBox set, I recommended to my mother, who was somewhat dissatisfied with her TV sound, that she take a closer look at Nubert's soundbars.

After a short period of research, she decided on the AS-450, which was on sale for 1199Ö at the time of purchase. Shortly after the purchase and delivery, the price dropped again to 1045Ö. After a friendly consultation with the sales department, the difference to the new price was refunded within one day without any problems. A big praise and thank you for the great service and the good and fast communication at this point!

We also have nothing but positive things to say about the AS-450 itself. A classy look, great workmanship and an impressive sound with plenty of depth. The mids and highs in particular are noticeably more detailed compared to my nuBox speakers. The very easy installation and handling is also a blessing for my mother's typical usage behavior.

In summary, everything is great, keep up the good work!

Let me start like this: I'm not the type of person who likes to write reviews. And actually, so much has already been written about the ATM module that I agree with. But I just want to share my enthusiasm with this community:
I've had the beautiful NuLine 264 for 2-3 years: slim, elegant, unobtrusive, aesthetic, great sound. They are connected to my 15+ year old Yamaha AX-596 stereo amplifier and provide beautiful sound for music or for the TV. In the basement is the 5.1 home cinema system (with non-Nubert brand floorstanding speakers) for the 'real' sound experiences, because the open living room is not family-friendly for action spectacles from DVD & Co.

That was the situation until 6 weeks ago when I stumbled across the ATM module while looking for a bit more bass and volume for the living room (after I had already walked or surfed past countless bass cubes). To my great surprise and delight, the old Yamaha, with its separate preamp and power amp, has the ideal prerequisites for using the ATM module (as a layman, I had always wondered what this construction with the metal brackets was actually good for...;-)).

It arrived beautifully packaged like a Christmas present, was very easy to install on the amplifier; at the same time I laid a second pair of 4mm speaker cables per speaker for the separate bass and tweeter/midrange supply (...can't do any harm, I thought) and then got started with Dire Straits and other very good CD recordings!

What is that!!!?! 😱 Such a great, awesome sound that develops - absolutely awesome!!! There's room for umpteen more attributes here. In short: I never ever expected to enjoy listening to music so much again and to get my old CDs out again.

... and the Dolby Sourround system in the cellar? Forget it! Here in the living room with 2 loudspeakers, it's all happening now, with an avalanche of sound rumbling and thundering through our house to action-packed movie scenes that makes you wonder whether it can harm the furniture (and at just 20% volume). Really bold and simply first class!

Unfortunately, I now have to feed my less cinematically inclined wife an extra pot of money for mitigation gifts, which will drive up the running costs of this wonderful investment in the future - but it's worth it! :p

Thanks again, Nubert!

Hi there,
I can only say/write one thing about nubert again, you guys are just great 🙂
This shows that you can make customers satisfied and happy with honest/professional advice in this day and age.

My AV receiver no longer wanted to do what it was there for. Since I already bought my surround speakers from nubert and still enjoy the good sound today, I thought I'd have a look around at nubert, maybe you'll find a suitable AV receiver there.
After a competent consultation (not a sales talk), which I really appreciate at nubert, we came up with an AV receiver that wouldn't have been the most expensive 😉
I then also opted for this AV receiver.
The delivery was fast 😎

Unpacked, connected, set up and enjoyed with a big grin (perfect).

Thank you nubert again and again 🙂
